I cannot for the life of me keep port 80 open. I reset the router settings to default and setup the port 80 forward. It worked for a short while, but now it remains closed. I disabled USB stuff, UPnP, and tried different internal servers with no luck. All other port forwards work as they should. WTF is going on?

Hello all,
When I first install the 3700 router, I get about 22-25mbps... After a day or so it goes to 9-12mbps. ISP should be giving me service between 18-21mbps. Could I have a hardware issue or just the ISP not providing full service? My router: 3700v1 Latest firmware v1.0.16.98. WMM disabled, and on WPA2-PSK [AES] security. |

I believe the 1.0.16.98 firmware needs rebooting once in awhile to regain its speed.

My guess is your having isp issues. I would power cycle the modem and if the problem persists call them up. My 3700v1 has been up 11 days and the internet is the same speed it always is.

Did you at anytime plug anything into the usb port on the router? If so, that may cause router instability until you reboot.

I then restored back level to previous firmware V1.0.14.98NA which before seemed to be running stable with no problem with the TWRR DNS servers. But within a day of loading that firmware, the DNS hangup happened again. Weird as I swear that it did not do this before with the v1.0.14.98NA firmware. So now I have manually configured the WNDR3700V1 v1.0.14.98NA to use other DNS server ipaddresses to solve the problem. Something about TWRR DNS servers these Netgear firmwares don't like. If they would just investigate the difference between TWRR DNS packets and the other DNS server packets they might be able to figure out how to fix this ongoing bug. |

StaticFree, I had similar issues, not due to router, but due to ugly ISP DNS itself. You can always try two things:
1. When DNS fails try using ISP DNS servers directry, rather that through router. In Windows you can do so with nslookup command, like: nslookup - 8.8.8.8 use your ISP DNS server instead of 8.8.8.8 and then try entering some addresses. If it also fails then, most likely, the problem is in your ISP DNS. 2. Setup Google or Open DNS and see if the problem will return. |

has worked better with it disabled but then my speed drops in half anyway... Still not sure what the problem is. |
