Hi all, I'm happy to report that after my fix Time Machine is automatically mounting the backup volume when it starts. I do not have to mount it myself first. Note that the second time when it tried to mount it asked for my username and password. I checked the box to save them to the keychain and now it mounts automatically.

@regulus:
I have a problem with the fix you described. At Mac OS X Lion startup the sparsebundle is not mounted and TM says that next backup will be when Volume is connected. I always have to manually mount the sparsebundle so that the backup can start. When I manually mount it and the backup performs well, after the backup TM unmounts the sparsebundle and the same error appears. What have I done wrong? Thanks a lot, danist |

@danist
Mine is the same as you describe. When I start the computer the drive is not mounted and Time Machine says the backup will occur when the drive is mounted. However, it does mount the drive and run the backup hourly on its own. As a matter of fact while I'm typing this message a backup has started and finished. As a test... I have the Time Machine menu bar icon showing. You can show that from the preference pane if needed. From that menu I can choose "back up now". Try that. See if Time Machine will mount your drive and backup. Mine does and as I mentioned it is working automatically. |

Hi ya
Well the ReadyNas guys have released a beta for the their duo device already. So I'm tempted to buy one of these. Can someone from Axentra, maybe Roby, comment on when this will be fixed? |

Stora is not working for me in OSX Lion. I don't use Time Machine. I can't get to the Stora device. The system error message I receive is, "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported."
At some point, someone from Netgear should address this and point us to an update. |

So it's pretty much a month since this thread was started, and no update since.
I know it's not Netgear's fault that Apple changed spec, but considering this must have been known long before Lion hit the market it's not really acceptable that we are still waiting. The ReadyNAS line got an update much quicker. Communication is key in these situations - and even a 'still working on it' message is better than silence. And it's not only Timemachine that seems to be the problem for some people (I have an issue with folders not appearing under the FamilyLibrary sub-folders when using Finder in Lion. All other Libraries and folders are fine though - and I can see everything through the web UI and my Windows PC) Not impressed, and not doing Netgear's chances of retaining my custom in the future much good either.

I'm of the same mindset. Netgear has had weeks to push out an update for Lion. With its NAS customers, Netgear was quick to respond. Stora customers have less of a priority. I bought what has become a black brick because it was Mac compatible and I wanted a reliable device for TimeMachine. Today, the product is NOT Mac compatible. Netgear: MAKE IT SO, OR GIVE ME A REFUND.
