Post WiFi keeps disconnecting? Help!

I have a NETGEAR DG834GT Super wireless adsl modem router. It has been working fine since we bought it in 2007, we turn it off every night, and on every morning, and all of a sudden the wifi stops working. I have tried restarting it by turning it off, waiting 45 seconds, and turning it on again, but I still get the problem. I have tried all wireless channels (1 to 13), modes (g, b and auto 108mbps), I have upgraded to the latest firmware, Restored factory default settings, and re-entered ettings manually, changing and removing password of wifi access point, but it still keeps disconnecting the wifi after 30 seconds or so after power-on. I also have tried turning off all connected devices one by one, to no avail. The 2 computers connected directly via ethernet ports work fine!

Could someone please help, I desperately need this working again!! Thanks.

Load INSSIDER it's a visual tool, load on laptop, turn on wireless router see if ssid disapears after 30 seconds. If it does your router is bad and turning on and off everynight is not a good idea most devices fail on turn as do most lightbulbs.

searay's suggestion to use inSSIDer is a good 'un.

I'd say though, it sounds like your router's wifi's conked out.

According to jmizoguchi on another thread, you could still keep it to use as a switch.

behavior probably is bad wifi unit.

I would check make sure that power supply has proper voltage as well. this will cause the wifi card not to turn up or acts up.

I say replace the power supply and if continue to have an issue, new router could be your horizon

Using inSSIDer I found that my network stays active for 2 minutes and 40 seconds, and then the SSID dissapears. Here is a picture of my graph: (my network is alled 'Wendy')

You can also see in the graph tha my network is -70dB, all the others are around -80dB?? Can someone tell me if I can save my router?

Tried channel 11, this time it stayed on for 3 minutes 14 seconds, then stopped again. I have noticed that the graph shows my network's amplitude (dB) is very jagged, whilst all other networks in range have smooth lines.

So does everyone here think my router is conked out, and I'll have to buy a new one?
