i attempted a software update on genie, but in the end it requested a user id and password. i used the router info but it did not work. also tried the registration id and password and that failed as well.
Any ideas |

Assuming that you have this router, then you'll have to sign in to the user interface and update your router that way. |

I was overly harsh on this router when I first had it, but since manually configuring it for my internet connection the performance has been blisteringly good.
There are however plenty of niggles that needs to be addressed, such as the ReadyShare feature which at the moment seems quite flawed. It is difficult to see why NTFS would be so slow compared to all the other file formats, considering the all need to be translated from EXT3 or EXT 2, which ever is native to the router. Theoretically, FAT16 should be slowest because virtually everything is different with the file system including file sector sizes. I am very happy however that Netgear have now revealed a firmware update is in the works. Something to look forward to but if it was quarterly then we should have seen one already, unless the first update is huge and thus delayed. |
