I've recently purchased a PTV2000 but have been unable to get it to send the display to the HDTV. I've made sure I've loaded all the most recent software.
It appears like its trying as I get a message about a new firmware upgrade being available for the PTV2000 but because it doesn't complete the connection, I'm unable update the firmware. Here is the software and devices I have installed Alienware M11x R3 (came configured with WiDi software) WiDi Software: 2.1.42.0 Intel PROSet/Wireless 14.0.0.113 (Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6250 AGN) Intel HD Graphics: 8.15.10.2342 Any suggestions? |

One problem that others have reported - the PTV2000 doesn't handle TVs that can't receive 1080p. 1080i-only won't work.
Is your WiFi network set up for 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz? If you have dual band, it might be worth switching to the other band and trying that. |

I get the same behavior regardless of whether the TV is 720p or 1080p capable.
When I start the connection, I see the TV indicate that it is connecting and then that it has connected and to please wait. If I look that the MyWiFi application, I can see that it is connected and that it has received an IP address. Its at this point that the WiDiApp become non-responsive and just hangs. Killing the WiDiApp results in it taking about 30 seconds for the connection to finally drop at which point I can attempt to connect again with the same results. I've tried starting the WiDi app with both the default (integrated graphic) and the High-Performance (NVida) but get the exact same results.

Since my last post, I noticed Microsoft release a new Intel HD Graphics family driver 8.15.10.2509 (8/31/2011). Since installing that driver and rebooting, I was still not able using the Integrated Graphics selection to make and keep a connection to the PTV2000 to work with a Samsung 1080p TV. But, if I start the WiDi application by selecting to use the High-Performance (NVida) graphics adapter, I was now able to connect and maintain the connection to the PTV2000. It now turns the TV screen black and I can now see a arrow cursor which I can move around. The PTV2000 indicated that there was a firmware update, which I then was able to successfully install. After rebooting the PTV2000, I recieved the same behavior as described above.
Close, but not yet there completely ! |

The ptv2000 works great on my 720 tv... I was having the same error message of "unable to send desktop to remote display". It would connect for literally a second then disconnect. Here's what I did to get it to work...
First I went to the Intel website and downloaded the software and driver combo update (restart after install). Here is the link for the Windows 64 bit version: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ess+Displayeng (For those that have the 32 bit version: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ess+Displayeng) I still got the same error message. Then I downloaded and installed the two updates (drivers and software) from Netgear, making sure to restart after each install. (One of the updates from the Intel website was newer-- which is why I gave that link as well, but unfortunately I can't tell you which one as I didn't pay that close of attention). It finally stayed connected! Then I was able to update the firmware of the adapter. Here are those 2 updates from Netgear: Intel Wireless Display software update 2.1.39.0: http://support.netgear.com/app/answe...ail/a_id/19374 Intel WiFi Driver Update for Laptop to use Push2TV version 14.0.0.0: http://support.netgear.com/app/answe...ail/a_id/18482 Hopefully this works out for you guys too... I know how frustrating it is! |

I'm wondering if there is a specific mix of drivers that is required. as I'm running Intel's latest drivers and still have the same problem. Like you, I'm running
ProSet Wireless software drivers 14.2.0.10 but I'm running 2.1.42 of the Wireless Display software. So needless to say, the 2.1.39 version won't install over the 2.1.42 version. I'm wondering if I need to uninstall the software and then reinstall what is provided by Netgear |

I just setup Alienware M17 laptop with the Netgear Push2TV adaptor. Was able to see laptop desktop on TV, go on the Internet and even play Solitare game from laptop on the TV. Had wanted to play PC games on the TV. Have a Samsung 3D HDTV that has the latest firmware installed. Tried Harry Potter Years 1-4 today on my laptop. Could play it on my laptop but when I tried to access it through TV, I would get the sound but no picture. The screen flashes but no picture. Tried calling Netgear support and no help. I had a hard time getting their support to understand my question and could not understand the support tech. Believe they were in India. Are the Netgear Push2TV devices setup to allow one to play a PC game on the TV screen?

I suspect that latency would be too high to play most games anyway (200 ms or so). |

The game could also be changing the screen resolution when it starts, which would throw off the PTV (especially if it is changing to a non-supported screen resolution.) Also I have found that using Extended mode works better than cloned mode, since this allows the TV and the laptop screens to be in different resolutions. So when playing the game you would want to try running the game in the extended screen (possibly need to use "full screen windowed" mode in the game if available.).
