Default WNDR 3700 stops sending the logs...

Hi,

I have an issue with the logs sent by email to my email address. Suddently, the WNDR 3700 stops sending the logs. I then have to reset the router (off-on) and it starts sending and then, randomly, stops again...

Anybody saw this ? There is nothing wrong with the logs ; no DoS attack, nothing... just stops...

Details :

Hardware Version : WNDR3700
Firmware Version : V1.0.16.98NA
GUI Language Version : V1.0.0.64

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Marc

@beluptiga,

This appears to be a new and previously unheard of problem with this router. It may be best if you open a case at my.netgear.com. There is an option to open a case without registering the product (use 2nd option). This is in case you are still within the period to return the router and want to leave that option open.

I have spotted this too, some of the older revisions has done this, but mine went for a LONG time before it happened, so I am not sure what caused it.

Hi,

To clarify my post:

The log seems to get full and it blocks there. It suddently doesn't send the log to my email address and get stuck there.

By the number of replies, it doesn't seem that it's an important feature to the users ! But if you really want to control the ins and outs lus the attacks, that's an imperative !

I will try to report it to Netgear.

THanks for your help !

Marc

some time if you choose too much to log it will either send as soon as log get full before the schedule or could cause erratic behavior.

probably not a bad idea to contact support via my.netgear.com

Well, I did contact my.netgear.com ; not much help there !

They sent me an email saying to go through the complete configuration of my router ! They obviously didn't understand my problem ! When I reboot the router, it sends the logs perfectly up until a certain time where it stops... If I reboot again, same pattern ! IT's not that my router is not working... all other features works like a charm... it's just the logs.

Log is important to me as I'M running a web server and I 'm calculating statistics and entries via the router... Use also the logs for parental control...

Do you think that the new WNDR4500 (N900) would be better ? Too new to tell ?

Thanks for your help.

wether buying a new router is the fixes but if you have to reboot to the fix the problems then log at full and must locked up

have you experiment with different firmware version?

I have had the exact same problem with my WNDR3700, I have contacted online support 3 times over the last 4 months.

I tried everything, resetting, reconfiguring changing e-mail and e-mail accounts on the email log section. But nothing appeared in the log screen in the UI either.

Monday netgear sent me the WNDR3700v2 and said the fault I had was hardware related.

Installed WNDR3700v2...
So far I have received last nights scheduled report last night and tonights, but tonights was missing the entire of today and seemed to have stopped after 3 ACK SCAN attacks just before midnight. So I'm left wondering whether its going to stop sending and reporting logs again. :-(

Default Replacement Just As Bad, If Not Worse!

Really can't believe it!

No logs being sent again, (as above message) this is with WNDR3700v2 sent to replace the same problem with WNDR3700.

But now I have another problem and wish I hadn't sent back the old WNDR3700, signal isn't so strong, I can't use my laptop or internet radio in the garden anymore.

I feel robbed and stupid for paying £15 for the prompt delivery of the replacement just to find the logs problem is on all the routers of that model, but not just that, I've lost the strong wireless signal I had!
