Hi there!
I wanted to know if the NeoTV200 does support streaming over Local Network from a DLNA Source like an HDD connected to a Netgear Router which has miniDLNA support! Greetings Ron |

No, the NTV200 only supports streaming from the Internet currently.

I wonder this myself. I love this little device and would certainly would love it way more if I could stream from my ReadyNAS.

FWIW, I fully agree that DLNA is needed. I may return my box given it doesn't support this, since I know many other devices on the market do support it.
Netgear - we have too much media tied up in home computers etc to only support internet feeds, and not support the local network usage. |

The newest firmware has added DLNA support. The codecs apear to be lacking now thought because it wouldn't play any of the avi files I had on my PC.

I am curious about this too... maybe someone here can help. I have the NTV300 (the base model) and received a new "My Media" channel with a recent firmware update that includes a DLNA streaming feature and a new option to read from the USB port - which the NTV300 doesn't have!
So, I obviously can't use the USB but he DLNA streaming works great. I am wondering if I received this update in error because Netgear's site indicates that the NTV300 does NOT support DLNA - however it IS working on mine -I have already streamed many different avi and mp4 files from both my Windows 7 laptop and my Nexus 7 Android tablet (using a free DLNA Server app). Today I received notice of another firmware update and I haven't applied it because I am concerned that it might "patch out" my new DLNA feature - which I love! Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there anywhere to check the contents of firmware update packages. Was my NTV300 supposed to receive this DLNA firmware upgrade? Any help would be appreciated. |

I couldn't take the suspense any longer... I took a peak at the update package and it looked okay, so I went ahead and ran the newest firmware update.
So now my NTV300 is on firmware 1.0.76 and still has the "DLNA Play To" tile, the "My Media" tile - with the DLNA option still working great (and still the USB option that is weird because the NTV300 doesn't have a USB port). So I guess since they persisted through two consecutive firmware updates Netgear must have intended to add these options to the 300 - but, their website still shows the 300 as not supporting these features, so I don't know... *Also, I never mentioned it because I don't really use it - but both of these updates ad WiDi (Intel Wireless Display) support as well. I haven't tested it, but both firmware versions do give you a WiDi tile. |
