Default How to change DNS server settings

Say you want to use opendns or google's dns servers. For google, do you change the dns settings on WNDR3700? or on your computer? I'm confused. And once you change how do you verify the changes?

dns on computer only affects that single computer and bypasses router's dns settings and on router, everything connected to router if configured on computer to auto.

In old days, typing a random web address that points to nowhere will get an indication or clues... ipconfig /all on win computer can help with more clues...

If you only want single of to use google DNS then you have done your job right

If you want entire network to use google DNS then you need to change under basic settings of the router interface

I made the change on the router itself, not on my computer.

Is there a way of confirming this? I did the ipconfig /all thing but that shows 192.168.1.1

You will not see google DNS when you do ipconfig when router itself has google DNS but you are using google DNS now through router
