Default connection TimeOut

Everytime I turn my WiFi on, on my computer so I can use my i phone through wi fi an error occurs..

COULD NOT JOIN NETWORK

A CONNECTION TIMEOUT OCCURRED..

With this error if turns searches, turns on, then drops off.
I have normal internet connect though it's just this wi fi problem..

How do I fix this please..
I also want it to have a password so if anyone wants to connect
to my network (computer) using the wi fi they must have the password to
join....

Hi sorry
Model is DG834GU VERSION 5

Basically when my wi fi was working you would need a password to
join it and I would like it to remain that way again..
I did however reset my net gear router to try and set a new password and
it has lead me to this error now...

I hope you can help out..
