Default Help - WPS Light Blinks Continuously. Security Flaw?

I set the router up with WPA2 and disabled router PIN.
I also verified the check boxes were filled for 'keep current router configuration' or whatever that's called.

Netgear says that if we disable the PIN WPS is "effectively" disabled.
But I am dubious.
Netgear also says the WPS light flashes briefly and up to possibly two minutes during WPS pairing mode.
And that during WPS pairing mode the router is effectively unsecured during that brief time.

Well if I see the WPS light flashing for hours that is not a brief time. does that mean it is stuck in some pairing mode and wide open for hours?

Help please. I do not feel comfortable with a router where a user making a mistake during first login to Wifi can set the router into a continual pairing mode. If that is not what the blinking WPS light means, can someone please explain?

Details
WNDR4000:
I set up a WNDR4000 with WPA2 and Router PIN disabled. I then got on my Win 7 laptop to loin to WiFi for the first time.
I entered the password, and pressed enter. But I had made a typo and it did not log me in.

I look over at the WNDR4000 and the WPS light is flashing.
It continued to flash for 30 minutes at which point I unplugged the unit.

WNDR4500:
I set up a WNDR4500 for family yesterday.
All seemed to go well.
Today mom got on her Win 7 laptop, chose the Wifi SSID and clicked the Connect button. When she realized she did not have the password she cancelled out. Two hours later she let me know.

And before I did anything, I looked over at the router, and sure enough - the WPS light was blinking. And it had been blinking for hours

Did you try pressing the button? Should go out or solid in a few minutes. Mine stops blinking but won't extinguish.

Two simple things I am looking for from Netgear...

1. What does the continual blinking mean?
2. As you say, make it possible to extinguish the LED and disable WPS entirely.

I can get my WNDR3700 to extinguish, but the WNDR4500 stays lit all the time, even with the PIN disabled.

I think blinking means it's under pairing with client. When it's solid green, it means wifi is enable and with security protection.

Yes. From the Netgear literature I would agree with you.
But do you see the concern here?
If blinking means pairing, and if Netgear says pairing mode lasts a max of 2 minutes ...
If I have the green light flashing for hours.... well, it would seem being in endless pairing mode until router reboot is a problem...

I am having the same problem. The Netgear Support already replaced it but with no effect. Still having the issue.
