I have a new MacBook Pro in a house with all Windows computers. I am trying to setup what should be relatively easy - my printer. The printer is a Epson CX4800 connected to Netgear PS121 USB network printer. I have searched endlessly to solve this problem. However I have done the following and my printer still comes up with a Error.
Printing to the NETGEAR Print Server from MAC OSX 10.6-10.7 1) Open the System Preferences Menu bar ! System Preferences Click on “Print and Fax” icon 2) Click on the “+” icon to add a new printer Click on the “IP Printer” icon 3) Select “Line Printer Daemon – LPD” 4) In the Address field, enter the IP address of the printer (192.168.1.105) 5) In the Queue field, enter "L1" 6) In the Name field, enter "L1" 7) Select the printer manufacturer from the pull down and select the printer model from the scroll box (Epson CX4800) 8) Click Add 9) DoubleClick on the new printer "L1" in this case 10) Click on Printer Setup 11) Click on Name: change the printer name. 12) Click on Location: and enter "P1" 13) Note: The Queue Name should be listed as "L1" and greyed out. 14) Click on OK and close i've done this, and countless variations, to no avail. I'm sorry but i'm not a computer person. Help Any Assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks |

Not all USB printer is compatible
If this is AIO or MFC printer then ps121 so supports but not 100% This is due to the driver of printer. Make sure you are using correct IP of print server

I just rechecked the IP address...it is correct.
Just to clarify - the Netgear works with Epson printer and has been for sometime. I am now using the only Mac in the house with the other Windows computers and trying to tap into the printer. I can only think its Netgear, because if I put the printer directly into my Mac, it prints. |

Windows and Mac both has different driver to deal with
Directly work with Mac doesn't clarify that print server works either. 10/10 directly work and expected. Try using HP jet direct instead and see
