Powerline xav5101 pc can't connect - what does that mean

I would appreciate any help understanding this problem before i return the powerline adapters.

I have successfully connected two powerline adapters. I see them with the utility. I connect my laptop with cat6 and get lights, but the laptop isn't recognizing that it's connected.

Win7. E4200 wireless router.
