Hi Guys,
Sorry if i don't explain this properly. I have a WD Hard drive connected to my ReadyShare enabled WNDR3700 router. Up until a few days ago, i was able to view all my files and folders on my Samsung Smart TV. However, i am now only able to see 4 of the 6 main folder and only a few files in each. Within one of the main folder i have 16 sub folders. I can see all the files and folder when i connect to the hard drive from any of my computers (wirelessly). I've powered down the router and hard drive and have also reset the router, with no success. only thing i did before the files disappeared ( that i can think of) was clicking on the 'Content Scan' radio button under media server section. Can someone please help? Thanks |

I am having the same problem with a IOMEGA external hd, but it is when viewing from a device connected to the Router... ie my PS3 or XBOX360.
I have both of them connected wirelessly to the readyshare device. At first I couldn't view any folders from the XBOX or the PS3 after a failed transfer between my mac and my iomega hard drive. It just gave this network error or something. So i did a power reset, and let it sit for a minute, then rebooted. After that It only allowed me to view a few folders at a time from the PS3 or XBOX. But when I open it up on the MAC it shows all the folders, in the right places. Sometimes if I reset the HD it allows me to view more folders. And when I transfer something new, it will show that. I tried playing around and moving things inside of folders in side of folders.. but it doesn't want to show more than 6-10 videos at a time. Confused as to why it is doing this, might just reformat HD to fix... but trying to avoid that. If anyone has a solution that would be awesome. Also there is a folder labled $RECYCLEBIN.BIN on the hd... not sure what that is doing thing or if that effects it. |

I am now having the same issue. I can view all of the files and folders from my Mac but I can't via anything connecting using DLNA. I see the HD and 1 of 3 folders. In that folder I can only see a few of the files there. It stops at the files starting with C. When I first set it up it worked great. Now this.

I believe the solution is to delete the index files the router placed on the external hard drive and let the router rebuild the index. Because I consider ReadyShare a gimmick and don't use it, I can't remember where the index files are located or what name they use. I'm sure if you do a search in the forum you'll find the answer. If I was to take a guess, I would think the index files would be any files you didn't place on the hard drive. But, that's a guess.

Please try this troubleshooting
- Update the firmware to version 1.0.16.98 - Then hard reset and reconfigure - Check if it resolve the problem with the new firmware If not, try also to : - Change the NAT Filtering to Open - Put a check on Disable SIP ALG, Disable IGMP Proxying and Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection I hope it resolve the problem. |

The media server / DLNA function of Readyshare has always been iffy. I have never had it working properly. It gets stuck at times especially on folders with videos. Rescanning sometimes works, other times it fails (this is on firmware .12 but I believe previous firmware did the same). So I gave up on it. Instead I got the My Book Live and plugged it into a home plug powered switch linked to my WNDR 3700 v2, and this shows up on my smart TV just fine with all folders. Twonky server is a bit outdated but it works quite well. Apart from the fact my smart TV is rubbish in as much as it cannot play many types of file.
I am hoping Santa has put the WD live tv in my xmas stocking so I have instant access at all times to my media library on the TV! |

I might also add I have used two different hard drives with readyshare and the DLNA wouldn't work properly on either of them - so it's not a HD issue but a Netgear issue which I don't expect they will be looking to fix anytime soon. I wonder if the media server function works on some of the newer routers like the WNDR 4700. As much as I love the 3700 which has served me well it is probably not high on the list of Netgear's focus anymore.

Thanks Scottyboy99 for sharing the workaround that you did.
You said that "this is on firmware .12 but I believe previous firmware did the same" If I may ask, where you able to update the firmware to version 1.0.16.98??? |

Hi,
Well mine is WNDR 3700 v2 so the latest available firmware is 1.0.0.12. I think 1.0.16.98 applies to v1. But even on previous firmwares the readyshare didn't work well with the media server to the smart TV. On a laptop all is fine, can browse all folders via explorer even if the read/write speed is a bit on the slow side. The DLNA server is hopeless though, videos seem to trip it up. That's why it's just better to get a NAS plugged in via ethernet - the smart TV should work ok with that like it does with the WD My Book Live. I still use the readyshare function but only really for FTP access to my files from my iPhone or work pc so it does serve a purpose. Cheers Wayne |
