Can someone explain the procedure to do rate limiting on my switch? Ideally I would like to rate limit one of my ports (say g3) to 30Mbps upstream. How would I do this?

So I've kind of been tinkering based off of the horrible documentation.
If I go to QoS -> DiffServ -> Advanced -> Class Configuration and setup a QoS class with the only thing defined as the internal server IP of the server I want to limit, say Source IP of 10.0.0.20/32. Save that class. Then go to Policy Configuration, mark simple policy, set a committed rate of 30Mbps (30720). Set conform action to Send, Violate action to Mark IP precedence say to 3 (in theory hopefully de-prioritizing it over regular traffic). Everything else is left blank here. Finally to Service configuration, apply my new policy to to g24, my internet uplink port. In theory, this should allow my server to talk at full speed to other internal servers, but de-prioritize the internet bound traffic if it exceeds 30Mbps. Would I have configured this properly? I've not tested it out yet, but I just want to confirm if that would be my best setup for what I want to accomplish. |
