Server Information Error WNDR3400v2

I just started experiencing a problem about 2 weeks ago...keeps popping up with a "Server Information Error" box

Inside the pop up box it says 'Could not read control file on Netgear server'

I updated the router firmware, and rebooted the router twice...same problem continues.

Happens on both of my computers, one wired, one wireless; both running Windows 7 64 bit.

It doesnt happen immediately...last night the computer was on for about an hour before it popped up, but it caused everything else to pause while it popped up on top of all windows. (Last night it closed my Guild Wars 2 window while i was in the middle of something.) Clicking [OK] results in the pop up incessantly repeating.
Internet connection remains fine.

After all firmware upgrades you must hard reset the router and reconfigure it back to your settings. Please do this.

I've turned the power off to it a few times prior to this post. Since seeing the reply above, I've also reset the device (via the reset hole on the back and a paper clip.)
Did that 10/19...still having same exact problem. Happens after the computers have been running for an hour or so.

I am having the same issue and I redownloaded the firmware and re-booted the router

You will not get a reply from Netgear here. This is a user-to-user forum only. I think you both need to open a case with Netgear.

Obviously there is no 'Netgear server' in the router. The only probability that occurs to me is whenever the router has to sync the time. It seems there is a bug somewhere IMHO.

I don't think error is related to NTP server.

it can not reach the sever that list downloadable firmware.

OP states the popup is on PC side so I would uninstall any netgear application that you may have installed on your pc.
