Open Internet Explorer and enter routerlogin.net in the Search Box (i.e. not the one for the search engine [e.g. Google]). It will take you to the GUI (Graphic User Interface) of the router. Enter admin as username and password as password (unless you have changed the default admin password). This will bring up the GUI and you should be able to see what the passphrase (network password) is.

If you did change the admin password and can't remember that too, then you don't have any alternative but to reset the router to factory defaults. You would have to re-enter all your config settings after. Use the downloads tab at the top of this page to get the manual(s) for your model router and you should be able to find the instructions on how to do this. Make sure to write down your passphrase and admin password and store it in a safe place so it doesn't happen again.

You will have to hard reset the router by pressing and holding the reset pin hole in back for 30 seconds. Release and then power cycle the router. Connect via wired computer to 192.168.1.1 now.

OH... wait... wireless password, not admin password. My bad.

Connect via wired computer to 192.168.1.1 username 'admin', password 'password' unless you changed it. Now navigate to your wireless settings and find your wireless password.

So I had a similar problem and had to do a hard reset. However, now my wireless network has no internet access, while the LAN is fine so I do have internet at home but my wireless is no longer working. The reason I even attempted to mess with this was due to my password being insanely complex. How can I get my wireless to work again?

login the router and setup again. Reset will ERASE the wireless settings on older models.

Go to support.netgear.com and get your manual to the route will be handy.
This is basic question answer in the manual

Do not use those symbols. Just a a strong password with letters and numbers, that's all you need.
